Truck Tire Size Chart: Every Common Size in Inches

How to use it

Find your wheel size, then read across for the real height and width. Metric sizes like 285/70R17 hide their height behind millimeters and percentages; this chart does the math. Click any size for the full breakdown and the tires in stock, or put two sizes head-to-head in the calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert a metric tire size to inches?+

Multiply the width (first number, in millimeters) by the aspect ratio (second number, as a percent) to get the sidewall height, divide by 25.4 to get inches, double it for top and bottom, and add the wheel diameter. For 285/70R17: 285 × 0.70 = 199.5 mm = 7.85", times two is 15.7", plus 17 is a 32.7-inch tire.

What tire size is a 33-inch tire?+

On 17-inch wheels the common metric 33s are 285/70R17 (32.7") and 285/75R17 (33.8"); on 18s, 295/70R18 (34.3") runs a touch big and 275/70R18 (33.2") is the closest; on 20s, 295/60R20 (34.0") and 33x12.50R20 are the usual picks. Check the chart for exact heights.

What tire size is a 35-inch tire?+

Most 35s are sold in flotation sizing, 35x12.50R17, R18, R20, or R22, so the height is right in the name. The common metric 35 is 315/70R17 at 34.4", which runs a little short.

Why are two "33-inch" tires different heights?+

Metric sizes are rounded by habit, not by spec. A 285/70R17 is 32.7" and a 285/75R17 is 33.8", and both get called 33s. Flotation sizes state the height directly but still vary a few tenths by brand. Compare the actual numbers before you count on clearance.
